Statewide Conference on Volunteerism
2009 Forging New Links

The Supporting Organizations of Forging New Links are now accepting proposals for workshops and institutes to be held at the 2009 Conference.  Submissions are welcomed in all areas related to Volunteer Administration, Service Learning, and National Service. 

All submissions must be completed online utilizing the link below - or on www.serveohio.org.
The deadline for proposal submission is Friday, October 31, 2008.

The 2009 Forging New Links Conference will be held March 30-31 at The Columbus Renaissance Hotel.  Primary session presenters will receive free registration for the conference.

Herbert Ockerman
Columbus

As a 48-year Professor of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University, Herbert W. Ockerman collects used books and distributes them to alumni members throughout the world to be place in university libraries. To date, he has made 1578 shipments to 393 locations.

Estimated value to date is $500,750,800. There are currently 40,000 books in his garage waiting for his next shipment. He does this because the books are desperately needed and appreciated in areas that do not have ready access in many cases to educational materials.
